Why do you blog? .........social networking... is the answer

The poll results show that around 60% of our respondents consider that the key driving force for blogging is to express their own opinion. While 30% utilise blogs primarly as a mean for documenting their life and 10% to find friends.


You do not blog? Why? .........I want to but ....is the answer

The poll results for the non-bloggers are very insightfull. If you look a little deeper into our responses you will see that 88% of non-bloggers are bloggers to be and only 12% wish to remain in the outer part of the blogsphere which entails less blogging activity.

Blog Classification

Blogs have evolved significantly since the early and influential weblog of Jorn Barger back in 1997.

Although personal bloggers dominate the blogosphere (79 % of all bloggers according to Technorati, 2008), business blogging has increased substantially. The commercial use of blogs in a common phenomenon nowdays, leading to more efficient communication, networking and knowledge management practices.

A simple taxonomy of blogs is presented here, based on two distinct blog-dimensions: the blog theme (i.e., personal, business) and blog-authorship (i.e., individual, group).

Which are the differences, one wonders. Well they range from nature and format to commentary policy.

I tried to create a synopsis of some of their key differentiating characteristics.

You do not blog? Why?

Someone, correctly pointed out that there are people in the blogosphere that although they do not have their own blog, they are a part of this virtual sphere. They are active members of this system since they read others blogs and/or provide their comments, ideas etc.

This is another sphere then, the outer disk, surounding the blogosphere; encompassing interested readers that may someday become bloggers themselves or not. I guess that this is the case for the vast majority of those who now own their own blog; they started by reading others blogs.

So, which is the reason then that some people tend to stay in the outer sphere and never consider moving to the inner sphere ? Is it more interesting reading at others thoughts, is it time consuming to maintain your own blog, is it something that you always wanted to do but for some reason this never materializes?

It sounds like a set of philosophical questions!

But really if you think about which was the reason that made you wanting to exist in the blogsphere ?

I suppose, a number of reasons ...but which in particular was your driving force? You wanted to exist out there (or out here really) so which was your motivation? at least in the beginning and has this stayed the same through out your blogpresence ? or has the blogsphere changed you is some way ?

Yesterday a collaboration was announced between Nokia and Google.

Easy to guess ! Google's search to Nokia cuustomers worldwide.

The popular search engine will be integrated with the Nokia search application starting with selected markets (Nokia N96, Nokia N78, Nokia 6210 Navigator, Nokia 6220 classic) and extended to additional Nokia models.

Nokia search with google will be made available to customers in more than 100 countries and more than 40 languages.
